Prof. Michael Birnhack


Mickey is a Ph.D. candidate at the Zvi Meitar Center for Advanced Legal Studies at Tel Aviv University. Her current research, 'Resisting Surveillance', is written under the supervision of Prof. Michael Birnhack, and is focused on digital activism, mainly non-institutional forms of resistance to surveillance.

Research Interests

Privacy, Law & Technology, Jurisprudence, Hermeneutics, Philosophy of Language, hackers and gamers Culture.



Mickey obtained a B.A. in Linguistics (2002, com laude), a B.A. in Literature (2002, summa cum laude), LL.B. (2009) and LL.M (2014, cum laude) all from Tel Aviv University. Her M.A. thesis, 'Privacy and Identity in the Information Age', supervised by Prof. Michael Birnhack, deals with data mining and profiling practices and their influence on privacy and identity of individuals.


Professional Experience

Mickey is a professional film editor since 1991, and has edited many television series, documentaries and feature films.
