Biography

Guy is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Law and Philanthropy. He studied philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (BA and MA); currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Philosophy at Tel Aviv University; Prior to joining the ILP, Guy worked in grant writing and consulting in the third sector.

Research Interests

Theories of justice; Philanthropy studies; The concept of legitimacy; Ideal/nonideal theory distinction. Relationship between philanthropy and democracy; Public image of philanthropy; Israeli and Jewish philanthropy; Antisemitism; Professional ethics.

2016-2017:
Israeli Conference on Philanthropy; Workshop and Conference, Nov 2016 - July 2017. Academic moderator of workshop titled “The public image of philanthropy in Israel”. The project was an initiative of the Forum of Foundations in Israel and the Jewish Funders Network. The conference was held at TAU on July 5, 2017.
2017:
(Forthcoming) Presentation at panel discussion titled “Normative Perspectives on Contemporary Philanthropy”. Title of presentation: “On the Importance of Distinguishing between Ideal and Nonideal Ethical Theories of Philanthropy”. 46th Annual ARNOVA Conference, Humanities Track. The Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) will hold its annual conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, in Nov, 2017.
