Description:
The world is aging. Lower fertility rates combined with longer life expectancies mean that, for the first time in human history, the number of persons older than 60 is expected to equal the number of people younger than 15 by 2050. This new reality, raises new questions and theoretical challenges for the law. This conference will address the key questions: Are new bodies of law necessary to address this “silver tsunami? Should “old age” be treated as a meaningful legal category? And, Is a separate area of Elder Law desirable or dangerous?
