TIL Conference: Financial Regulation and Comparative Corporate Governance

The Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law co-hosted with the Batya and Isachar Fischer Center for Corporate Governance and Capital Markets Center a three-day international conference on Financial Regulation and Comparative Corporate Governance.
The event took place Wednesday-Friday, 8-10 January, 2014 at the Sonia Kossoy Conference Room (307), on the 3rd floor of the Trubowicz Building, Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law. All conference sessions were held in English and included guest addresses by professors from Harvard Law School, Yale Law School, Columbia Law School, the University of Virginia, School of Law and more.

TIL Conference: New Approaches for a Safer and Healthier Society

The Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law hosted an international three-day conference on how to create a safer and healthier legal environment. The conference consisted of five theme-based sessions on: "Regulation"; "Between Regulation and Tort Law", "Tort Law", Politics and Public Choice" and "Litigation".
It took place at the Buchmann Faculty of Law, Trubowicz Building, Sonia Kossoy Conference Room (307). Justice Eliezer Rivlin delivered the event's key note lecture.
TIL Conference: International Courts and the Quest for Legitimacy

The Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law jointly hosted an international event with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Law Faculty (HUL) on the subject of international courts and the pursuit of democratic legitimacy. The two-day conference comprised a total of eight lecture sessions, with each session including a special guest speaker and commentator. The first day took palce at Beit Maiersdorf, Hall 501, the Mount Scopus campus of the Hebrew University, and the second day at the The Buchmann Faculty of Law's, Trubowicz Building (Sonia Kossoy Conference Room), Tel Aviv University.
Guest lecturers included Dr. Armin von Bogdandy, the Managing Director of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg; Prof. Larry Helfer, the Harry R. Chadwick, Sr. Professor of Law Duke University School of Law; Prof. Erik Voeten, the Peter F. Krogh Associate Professor of Geopolitics and Justice in World Affairs at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and Government Department, and others.
TIL Conference: Reaching International Cooperation on Climate Change Mitigation

The Cegla Center for the Interdisciplinary Research of Law, the Institute for Law and Economics at the University of Chicago Law School and the Weizmann Institute of Science jointly organized and hosted an international conference on climate change policy mitigation and adaptation.
The three-day conference took place at the Buchmann Faculty of Law, Trubowicz Building, Sonia Kossoy Conference Room (307) and included expert guest speakers from The US, UK, China, Germany and Brazil.

The Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law hosted a three-day international conference on the intersection of individualism, family and State. Among guest speakers at the conference were Cynthia Grant Bowman (Cornell University), Michael Freeman (University College London), Elizabeth Beck-Gernsheim (University of Erlangen) and Mulela Margaret Munalula (University of Zambia).
The papers presented at the conference were later published in Volume 13, Issue 1 (January 2012) of Theoretical Inquires in Law.

The Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law hosted an international conference on Mapping the Hard Law/Soft Law: Terrain Labor & Environmental Protection in Corporate Codes and Public-Private Initiatives.
The conference brought together some of the leading environmental law scholars in the world, to discuss major theoretical strands of research, adopted codes of conduct and international public policies in the field.

The Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law jointly hosted with the UCLA School of Law an international conference titled: "Copyright Culture, Copyright History".
During the two-day conference, researchers form Israel, US and discussed current trends in Intellectual Property (IP), global trademark and copyright regimes, as well as national, historical and cultural developments in the field of IP law.

The Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law jointly hosted in cooperation with the Monash University, Business and Economics' Taxation Law and Policy Research Group a three-day conference which was devoted to three major topics: "Taxation in Asia"; Comparative Tax Politics and Tax Reforms; and Comparative Notions of Income, Expenses and the Family".
The conference, entitled: "Comparative Tax Law and Culture", took place at the Monash University Prato Centre in Italy, and included prominent scholars such as Michael Livingston (Rutgers University School of Law); Carlo Garbarino (Bocconi University Law Department); Assaf Likhovski (Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law); Neil Brooks (Osgoode Hall Law School, York University) and others.

The event was co-organized by Theodore Eisenberg, the Henry Allen Mark Professor of Law and Adjunct Professor of Statistical Sciences, and Talia Fisher, an Associate Professor of Law at Tel Aviv University. Its five sessions took place at Tel Aviv University, Buchmann Faculty of Law, Trubowicz Building, Sonia Kossoy Conference Room (307).

TIL Conference: Medical Accidents and Patient Safety in Israel: Legal and Interdisciplinary Perspectives

The Cegal Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law at the Buchmann Faculty of Law, the School of Medicine at the Sackler Faculty, and the Israel National Institute for Health Policy Research (NIHP) hosted an international conference, titled "Medical Accidents and Patient Safety in Israel: Legal and Interdisciplinary Perspectives".
The event was organized by Prof. Ariel Porat, the Alain Poher Chair in Private Law and Prof. Ronen Avraham, an Associate Professor of Law at Northwestern University. Distinguished speakers included Prof. Shlomo Mor-Yosef, Chairman of the Board of the NIHP, Prof. Alastair Scotland, Director of the British National Clinical Assessment Service, and Martin Erichsen, Deputy Director of the Danish Patient Insurance Association – to mention but a few.

Keynote speakers included Jan von Hein, Professor of German, Comparative and Private International Law at the University of Trier; Eyal Benvenisti, Professor of International Law at Tel-Aviv University, Prof. Hermann Pünder, Chair of German, European and International Public Law at Bucerius Law School; Daphne Barak-Erez, Professor of Law at Tel Aviv University, and Prof. Jurgen Basedow, Director of the Max-Planck-Institute for Private Law in Hamburg.
