For your convenience, below is some practical information and tips that will help you make the most of your stay.
Ben Gurion Airport
Ben Gurion Airport is the international airport of Israel http://www.iaa.gov.il/en-US/airports/bengurion/Pages/default.aspx.
Security checks are a must for all of us. At the border control, you might want to present the formal letter of invitation we have sent you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if necessary. Our contact information appears on the letter, which will be sent to each of you individually.
Taxi services and train lines to Tel Aviv are available from the Airport (please take into consideration limited train service during Fridays and Saturdays): https://www.rail.co.il/en/stations/ben-gurion-airport, and please avoid the people who may approach you inside the terminal offering their taxi services. The official taxiline is outside the terminal, on your left.
Tel Aviv is about 20-30 minutes’ drive from the airport. A taxi drive to the Center of Tel Aviv should not cost more than NIS 200 [New Israeli Shekel, or just “Shekel”]. The train is much cheaper (about NIS 14) and has several stations in Tel Aviv, the best for you would be Savidor-Merkaz. From the train station you can take a taxi to the hotel. Make sure the driver operates the meter.

Tel Aviv is the cultural and business center of Israel. It is young, vibrant and offers variety of leisure activities from a sandy beach to non-stop nightlife: https://www.tel-aviv.gov.il/en/Pages/HomePage.aspx
It is located on the shores of the Mediterranean and June is perhaps the perfect time to enjoy its nice sunny weather.
Taxis can be hailed on the street, or by calling any of the dozens taxi firms operating in the city. If you have internet connection, you may wish to download Gett, : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gettaxi.android&hl=en
English is spoken and understood by many Israelis and there should be no problem in communicating with most of the people you would encounter. Many also speak Russian.
Getting Around
Here are some more helpful Apps for getting around Tel Aviv:
- Moovit (for public transportation, and if you connect your credit card, also convenient to pay for the rides)
- Waze (for driving)
- Google Maps – for walking around.

Accommodation
- Airbnb is very popular in Tel Aviv and you might find great solutions for short-term housing. Hostels could also be a great option:

Your hotel is likely to have a free Wi-Fi connection, and you will also have such connection at the university. In various places around Tel Aviv you will be able to use the city’s free Wi-Fi.
