Book Symposium: David Schorr, The Colorado Doctrine: Water Rights, Corporations, and Distributive Justice on the American Frontier (Yale University Press, 2012)

The second in a three-part book series organized by the David Berg Institute to celebrate the publication and contribution of legal-history-related books. Three commentators reviewed and critiqued the book, each from his/her own disciplinary perspective. The commenters were: Prof. Ron Harris, Dean of the Buchmann Faculty of Law; Prof. Roy Kreitner, Professor of Legal Histoery, also from the Buchmann Faculty of Law and Prof. Michael Zakim, from TAU's Department of History.

Open Conference: Corporate Liability for Human Rights Violations and Holocaust Justice Litigation

The David Berg Institute, The Minerva Center for Human Rights and the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah hosted a panel-based conference that span two days (December 16-17), and included various talks and discussions dealing with corporate responsibility for Holocaust crimes on the history and memory of the Holocaust.

Book Symposium: Michael Birenhack, Colonial Copyright: Intellectual Property in Mandatory Palestine (Oxford University Press, 2012)

The first in a three-part series organized by the David Berg Institute to celebrate the publication and contribution of legal history-related books. Birenhack's book was reviewed and discussed by critics of three different disciplines: Prof. Niva Elkin-Koren, intellectual property scholar (Faculty of Law, Haifa University); Dr. Adam Hofri-Winogradow, legal historian (Faculty of Law, Haifa University); Prof. Yaacov Shavit, cultural historian (Department of Jewish History, Tel Aviv University).

International Conference on the Sovereign Economy

The conference, which was co-organized by the Department of History and the Faculty of Law at Tel Aviv University (TAU), examined the history of capitalism. The Berg Institute was one of the conference's sponsors.

From Qing to China: Rethinking the Interplay of Tradition and Modernity, 1860-1949

Members of The David Berg Institute participated in an international conference hosted by the Department of East Asian Studies, at the Lester and Sally Entin Faculty of Humanities, Tel Aviv University. The conference's participants presented cutting-edge research on late 19th and early 20th century Chinese history. The Berg Institute was one of its sponsors and also provided funding for a panel devoted to Chinese legal history. The panel included papers by two Chinese-American historians from Princeton and Columbia on the history of vagrancy, immigration and intellectual property law.
