Biography

Aaron Kirschenbaum, a faculty member of the Tel University Law School, taught and headed the Department of Jewish Law from 1970 to 1995, at which time he retired as Professor Emeritus. Editor-in-Chief, Jewish Law Journal, Dinei Israel. From 1997 to the present, founder and National Chairman of "Youth for Jewish Law" Organization, dedicated to the foundation, operation and maintenance of high school groups throughout the country engaged in the study of Jewish law. Member, (the international) Jewish Law Association; President, 1990-1994. Member, (the international) Conference on Judaic Studies of the Hebrew University. 1973-1985, founder and Director of Shilo, academicians teaching Judaism throughout the country. 1959-1969, Associate Professor of Rabbinic Literature, Jewish Theological Seminary of America; 1996-2014, Professor of Jewish Law , Interdisciplinary Center Law School of Herzliah. Visiting Professor at the Cardozo Law School of Yeshiva University; Temple University Law School; Gruss Chair in Jewish Law at New York University Law School; and University of Pennsylvania Law School. Recipient of the Weiler Foundation Prize for Research in Jewish Law and in the Halakhah;  the Justice Moshe Silberg Prize in Jewish Law; and the IDC Honorary Fellowship. B.A., Brooklyn College of the New York State University; M.A. and D.H.L. (Jewish Law), Jewish Theological Seminary of America; Ph.D. (Roman Law), Columbia University.
