Biography

Meir Teichman held a joint appointment with the Tel-Aviv University Bob Shapell School of Social Work. He is serving as the Head of the school and teaches courses on psychology, alcohol and drug addiction, and evaluation and research methods. He was appointed serving He is a Board member of the Shelter for Battered Women and serves on the Research Committee of the Israel National Anti-Drug Authority. He has been a fellow of the UCSF Institute of Health & Aging since 1987, and has been a Visiting Scholar at the Treatment Research Center, Department of Psychiatry University of Pennsylvania Medical School, a visiting professor of psychology at the University of California at Berkeley, University of West Virginia, Temple University, and Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia. He is the author of Life in a Different World: Alcohol, Drugs, and Human Behavior (Hebrew), Alcohol and Alcoholism: Causes, Prevention, and Treatment (Hebrew), and co-author of Society and Welfare: Special Issue on Addiction (Hebrew with English abstracts), and of many articles. He has be en awarded grants by the Israel ADA, the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the Israeli National Academy for Research and Development, and the Interministerial Commission on Drug Abuse. Dr. Teichman received his B.A. and M.A. from Bar-Il an University and his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Missouri -- Columbia.
