A New Born Institute!

The S. Horowitz Institute for Intellectual Property in Memory of Dr. Amnon Goldenberg was inaugurated in a special ceremony, held at Tel Aviv University Buchmann Faculty of Law.

In the presence of many highly distinguished members of the Israeli law system and some of the most senior figures in the field of intellectual property in the world, the S. Horowitz Institute for Intellectual Property in Memory of Dr. Amnon Goldenberg was inaugurated in a special ceremony, held at Tel Aviv University Buchmann Faculty of Law on March 20.  The keynote speakers were the Director General of WIPO, Dr. Francis Gurry, and the President of the Israeli Academy for Science and Humanities, Prof. Nili Cohen. The S. Horowitz IP Institute is already active in the promotion of knowledge and research of IP, including interdisciplinary perspectives of IP, as well as in facilitating an academic exchange of views, in all IP aspects, in collaboration with legal practitioners, policy makers and other similar institutes around the globe. In the S. Horowitz IP Institute inauguration ceremony, Dr. Francis Gurry, Director General of WIPO, explored the challenges facing copyright in a global digital content market over the past 20 years. Prof. Nili Cohen, President of the Israeli Academy for Science and Humanities, touched upon two rulings, concerning copyright in the face of the national Israeli interest in items forming part of the Jewish cultural heritage.
