A new study reveals: Subconscious discrimination of women by buyers on eBay
A new study, conducted by TAU Law faculty member Dr. Tamar Kricheli-Katz, together with Dr. Tali Regev of the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, analyzed over a million transactions, held between 2009 and 2012, and reveals that women sellers on eBay receive on average lower prices than men sellers of the exact same product. The results, proving that people tend to inherently assign a lower value to products sold by women, were published on-line in the journal Science Advances, and trigger great interest in world press. “We hope that by making people more aware of these unconscious biases, maybe over time the gap will narrow,” said Dr. Kricheli-Katz.
